HOLDEN —  Each fall, the cross-country teams from Wachusett Regional and St. John’s High wage a friendly battle at the Wachusett Invitational. This year was no different, with the Pioneers capturing the Class A title and Mountaineers senior standout Colin Bennie taking the individual championship in record-setting time.

The margin of victory for St. John’s was small as it edged Wachusett, 37-39. The Pioneers had three runners in the top 10, including two of the top three. The Mountaineers placed three harriers in the top 10, also nailing down the eighth and 10th spots. St. John’s and Wachusett finished 1-2 last year.
