Salute to Our Seniors: Joel Hubbard

Joel Hubbard: Marshfield High School

Joel has been the face of our team for the last 4 years. He is a strong competitor that you can never count out of a race. He has helped our team in so many ways over the years, running anything from the 300m to the 5k. Nothing proved how much he means to his team then then anchor leg of the DMR at Nationals. It will be tough to replace an athlete of his Joel's ability. The best has yet to come with this young athlete, at age 17 the future is very bright. ------Coach Sheppard

What do you enjoy doing outside of your track and field life?

I like hanging out with my friends, going to the beach, and playing volleyball.

What was your most memorable competition?

Winning the Distance Medley Relay at Outdoor Nationals my last high school race.

Out of all of your running accomplishments, what stands out the most?

No question, winning nationals in the DMR was not only mine, but my teams greatest accomplishment.

Do you have advice for any younger runners?

Just getting out the door and running everyday will make you a better runner. Don't be afraid to set high goals and don't let the pressure
get to you, have fun and run your own race!

If you were to change anything about your high school running career...what would you change?

I wouldn't change anything about my high school career. You learn from your mistakes.

What are you college plans?

I'll be running for Syracuse University starting in the fall, and i cannot wait!

Who would you like to say thank you to?

My parents, who have never missed a race of mine. My coach Dennis Sheppard for putting up with myself and Kevin for the last four years, and all my teammates who have contributed to the program.
