Franklin Park All-Time Top 100 - as of 11/13/2011

One way to ensure a bright future is to preserve the past.  Norwell coach Chuck Martin has undertaken the painstaking process of documenting the rich history of our fine sport and will be sharing with us a series of lists that illustrate the elite pedigree of Massachusetts distance running.

His first release is the Franklin Park All-Time Top 100.  The list is complied of MIAA races starting in 1995 when the current Franklin Park 5K course was established.  The list is limited to Massachusetts athletes only, and only the best time from each athlete is included.

As with any compilation of records, there are bound to be errors and oversights.  We encourage coaches, athletes, and fans to send verifiable corrections to Chuck Martin at norwellxc@aol.com.  All submissions will be reviewed and the list will be updated as necessary.

MileSplitMass would like to extend a sincere thank you to Coach Martin for his hard work and dedication to the sport.  The amount of time he has committed to this project is mind-boggling, and only someone with his resourcefulness would be able to pull it off.  In addition, we would like to thank coach George Rose from Sacred Heart who had the wherewithal to archive boxes of race results and articles from decades past.  Without his information this project would have never been possible.

The names below will spark fond memories of some of the best races in Massachusetts state history, and it gives today’s stars yet another goal to strive for.  Olympians, All-Americans, State Champions, and current athletes make-up a list that is truly amazing.  Enjoy!
