Mansfield wins both! The boys post a 21 point victory over second place Andover, while the girls win a close one by only 9 points over Newton North.

Greg Boursiquot of Stoughton broke the state 55 Meter Hurdles record in the prelims! He ran 7.36 to secure the top qualifying spot and then ran 7.53 to win the event. Boursiquot interview.

Westwood and Mansfield both beat the 1998 4x800 Meter Relay record of 8:01.13 set by Newton North. Westwood won the event in 7:57.59, followed by Mansfield in 8:00.10 behind the 1:52 split of Josh Lampron. Westwood's time is US#6 and Mansfield's time is US#9. 

Mansfield sets a new meet record in the boys 4x400 Meter Relay. Their time of 3:21.78 surpassed the 2008 record of 3:22.47 set by Woburn.

Newton North, Pembroke, and Andover all crushed the 2008 4x400 Meter Relay meet record of 3:59.69 set by Lincoln-Sudbury.  Newton North would win the event in 3:55.89, followed by Pembroke (3:57.12), and Andover (3:57.63).


Andrea Keklak of Lincoln-Sudbury now leads the nation at 1000m and is #9 All-Time in the event. Her time of 2:47.93 was good enough for a nearly 10 second win over second place Laura Williamson of Wachusett. Marika Crowe of Lincoln-Sudbury needed a strong finish to hold off Caitlin Sheridan of Westfield Academy in 2:50.00 and 2:50.44 respectively. Keklak interview.

The showdown in the 2 mile between Shayne Collins of Mansfield and John Murray of Shrewsbury was one for the ages. Murray would post the second fastest time in the nation of 9:08.69 to win the event, with Collins not far behind at 9:09.33. The pair split a sub 60 second final 400m with David Melly of Newton South finishing in third (9:20.13).  Collins is now US#2 and Melly is US#8.  Race Video. Murray interview.

Kathy O'Keefe (Newton South) ran away with the mile in 4:55.24. Foot Locker National Cross Country Finalist Catarina Rocha of Peabody was second (5:00.32), followed by Abigail Pohl of Weston (5:09.45). O'Keefe took over the #1 spot in the state from Andrea Keklak of Lincoln-Sudbury and is currently #10 in the country. O'Keefe interview.

18 athletes ran under 4:30 as Josh Lampron (Mansfield) posted a US#6 time of 4:15.16 for the win. Dan Zawalich (St. John's) was second in 4:17.12; followed by Wesley Gallagher (Pembroke) in 4:18.28. Lampron interview.

Andre Rolim (Somerville) successfully defended his state title in the 600m; clocking in at 1:21.29. His time is #10 in the country and #1 in the state. Rolim interview.

Kendal Knous of Franklin also successfully defended her title in the 600m; winning comfortably in 1:34.15. The battle for second and third was close as Alex Stanton (Medfield) and Mia Toffoli were separated by only 0.55. The next 8 girls would finish in under a second. Knous interview.

In the most exciting race of the year, Joel Hubbard (Marshfield) and Billy Looney (Bishop Feehan) would need a photo to decide the 1000m. Both athletes officially ran 2:31.31, but Hubbard just edged Looney at the line.  The actual finish line photo will be uploaded this evening. Hubbard interview.

Charles Ruffin (King Phillip) would win the 300 Meter Dash in 35.72, but Pat Farnham would pick-up some valuable team points for Andover by finishing second in 35.97. After 4 events, Andover was only 3 points behind Mansfield

Rebecca Robinson narrowly missed the state record of 39.30 in the 300 Meter Dash. Her time of 39.39 is the second fastest time in the state, behind her own state leading mark of 38.90.  Jen Esposito of Mansfield was second (39.97), followed by Eve Bishop of Andover (40.11). 

Craig Langes of Wobrun would be the only athlete to jump over 21 feet in the long jump. His winning jump of 22'3.25" was just over 5 inches ahead of second place Olisa Obiefuna of Saugus.  New Bedford would pick-up 11 valuable team point with Phito Gondre (21'7.5") and Justin Callander (21'5") finishing in 3rd and 4th respectively.

Swardiq Mayanja would find redemption after last week's rare second place finish by winning the shot put at 56'2". He blew away the field by almost 4 feet.

Kristen McDonagh successfully defended her high jump title, winning the event at 5'6". Haley Laird (Andover), Emily Cahill (Uxbridge) and Jess Salley (Andover) would all finish at 5'4", but Laird would pick-up second place based on misses at previous heights. 

The boys high jump would finish just as the state rankings indicated it would. Nick Staley (B.C. High) and Sam Yoder would both jump 6'8", but Staley would get the win based on misses at previous heights. Matt Sidney of Canton finished 3rd at 6'6".

Megan Ross of Franklin finally met her goal of breaking 11 minutes in the 2 mile. Her winning time of 10:59.78 is the fastest in the state. Maggie Mullins of Andover was second (11:02.93) and Meghan Brophy of Waltham was third (11:11.21).  Ross interview.

Vanessa Clerveaux (Brockton) missed the state record by .03 in her win of the 55 Meter Hurdles. Her time of 8.14 is second in the state only to her 8.13 time she ran at the MSTCA Girls Invitational.

It couldn't get any closer for Brett Buskey of Blackstone-Millville and Phito Gondre of New Bedford in the 55 Meter finals. Buskey (6.51) would edge Gondre (6.52) for the win, with Craig Langesof Woburn finishing 3rd (6.60).

Emma Rice (Boston Latin) would find herself in the center of the track for the 55 Meter finals flanked by Rebecca Robinson(Arlington) and Carla Forbes (Newton North); two of the most accomplished athletes in Massachusetts. Rice (7.23)would hold her own, finishing second to Robinson (7.22), with Forbes in third (7.28) and Brianna Tabin (South Hadley) in fourth (7.29). Race video. Robinson interview.

Lincoln-Sudbury cruises to an 11 second victory in the girls 4x800 Meter Relay. Their 9:20.10 winning time is US#6.

Andover needed four strong performances to hold off New Bedford in the boys 4x200 Meter Relay. They won the event in 1:31.65, followed by New Bedford (1:31.82) and Mansfield (1:32.99).

Lauren Duggan of Norwood won the shot put by almost 2 feet!. Her mark of 38'1.75" almost matched her season PR of 38'2" that she set at the Bay State League Championships.

Sophomore Carla Forbes successfully defended her long jump title; winning the event at 18'9". She was the only athlete over 18 feet, but three more finished at 17 feet or better.

Brockton(1:45.40) posts an upset in the girls 4x200 Meter Relay, defeating Marshfield (1:46.19) and Mansfield (1:46.72). Brockton's time is MA#2.
