Eagle Icebreaker Invite:  The outdoor season is taking off in Georgia as well with some huge marks.  Kirubel Erassa, Grayson, opened up his outdoor season with an impressive triple.  Grayson ran a US#1 time of 10:22.51 in the DMR with Erassa anchoring in 4:13.8.  His splits were 59, 2:03, 3:08.  After a short 2 hour respite he was back at it with a 1:56 relay split to lead Grayson to the win in 8:18.04.  Erassa split 56 for the first 400.  One hour later he was back on the track for the 3200 meter run, winning with a time of 9:05.47.  He split 4:35-4:30 with a closing 800 of 2:12 (68-62).  Collins Hill girls went 4:05.98 for the meet record and US#1.  Nicky Akande, Collins Hill, split 2:13.5 in the 4x800 and teammate Sydney Williams split 57.6 in the 4x400.  Collins Hill won with a 4:04.11.

 

 

Georgia Weight Throws Championship:  Commentary from GATFXC.COM:  Davis Fraker put an exclamation point on a superb 2nd week of Ga HS Track & Field unleashing a monster 67-8.75 in the Shot (the best throw for a HS athlete in GA history) at The Georgia Weight Throw Championships held in Marietta placing him 2nd on MileSplit.Us. Other Throwers surpassing the 60' barrier in this meet were Ben Glauser of Athens Academy (61-9) and Caleb Whitener of East Paulding (60-11.25). In the Boys Discus 3 men eclipsed 160' including Liberty County's Aaron Bennett at 166-10, Marist's Burke McCarty at 164-6 and Peyton Wilhoite of North Hall at 160-10. Not to be outdone, Sarah Howard from GISA Trinity Christian down in Milledgeville uncorked a 47-0 in the Shot to record the 2nd best mark in GA HS competition history and is currently ranked #1 on MileSplit.Us and she is only a sophomore.  More recap and video here!

 

 

 

Washington Last Chance:  Sophomore Maddie Meyers, ran a super 4:46.77 to equal the US best of Emily Lipari, Roslyn NY. 

 

 

Weightarama:  Alec Faldermeyer, Minisink Valley NY, won the WT with a big reach out to 86-3.50 for US#1 and US#3 All-TIme. 

 

 

Ben Brown Invitational:  Outdoors begins fast for some as Matt McElroy, Edison CA, ran a superb PR in the 5000 meter run of 14:29.35 to finish 6th in the College Men's A race. 

 

 

Ed Conly/Foothill Invite:  Loyola CA ran a US#1 outdoor mark in the DMR of 10:25.05. 

 

 

Sacramento Classic Invite:  Chizoba Okodogbe, Deer Valley CA, got off to a quick outdoor start with a 24.89/55.12 double in the 200 and 400 meter dashes. 

 

 

Chicagoland Catholic Invite:  Nico Composto, Loyola Academy, won the 1600 meter run with a time of 4:20.63.  Teammate Mark Donohue won the 3200 with a time of 9:27.40.

 

 

Kent State HS Open #3:  Girls Meet | Boys Meet  Trotwood-Madison OH rolls to a big-time US#1 4x400 with a time of 3:18.32!!  Blake Heriot, Gahanna Lincoln, continues to impress with a 6.80 win in the 60 dash and a 21.37 200 meter dash win that is good for US#2.  Dustin Brode won the weight in 66-00.50 but launched the shot 66-6 for US#2.  The 800 came down to the wire with Foot Locker finalist Colby Alexander, Strongsville, edged out at the line by Quincy Downing, Glenville, 1:56.68 to 1:56.82.  Trotwood's William Henry, won the 400 meter dash with a US#4 time of 48.01.  Madeline Chambers, (Sr., Rocky River) was all alone in front winning the mile in 5:05.42.    Taylor Burke (Jr., Medina) jumped 5-10 in the high jump for the meet record and a tie for US#2.  Madeline Morrow (So.,  North Canton) was second with a jump of 5-8.  Morrow already holds the US#5 spot with a 5-8.25.  Ali Tolich (Jr., Austintown Fitch) stays at US#10 with a weight throw of 50-03.00 improving her PR by almost 2 feet.

ONSITE COVERAGE :  It was a nail biter in the 400 meter dash as West Catholic teammates Chante Moore and Michelle Davis took 1st and 2nd with blistering times of  55.14 (Moore) for a US#2 and 55.17 (Davis) for a US#3.  Leah Nugent, Abington, was 3rd in 55.42 for US#4.  Brady Gehret, Altoona Area, won the boys 400 meter dash with a fast US#2 47.70.   Gehret went on to  win the 200 meter dash in 21.22.  Gehret already holds the number 1 spot in the country with 21.14.  Rayianna Johnson, Chester, won the 200 meter dash for the girls in 24.55.   Alex Kenney, State College Area, moves into US#4 after winning the 60 meter dash in 6.80.  Chloe Schmidt (Jr., State College Area) won the 800 meter dash in 2:11.54 moving her into the US#4 spot. Carlton Lavong, Methacton, won both the long jump (24-00.25) and the triple jump (49-10.50).  Lavong holds the US#1 spot in both events.  Brittany Howell, Cheltenham, won the long jump for the girls with a jump of 18-6.50.  Luke Lefebure, West Chester Henderson,  moves into US#3 in the 800 meter dash with a time of 1:53.94, winning from the 2nd of 3 sections.   Rachel Serafin, Hempfield Area, previously ranked in the US at 15th moved to US#3 after she threw the shot put 47-3.75 for the win and a new PR.  Foot Locker finalist Rad Gunzenhauser, Mt. Lebanon, won the 3000 meter run with an 8:38.01 and a US#4.  Foot Locker finalist Sara Sargent, Pennsbury, won the girls 3000 meter run in 10:01.67.   Mick Coleman, Tennent, won the Pole Vault by jumping 15-00.   The West Catholic girls 4x200 relay team won the event in 1:40.01 for a US#2 time and the 4x400 with a 3:52.03 for US#3.  On the boys side, Cheltenham, took first in 1:30.27 after their 2nd leg hurdled a fallen runner.  The squad is currently US#6 1:29.69.  They went on to win the 4x400 meter relay with a smoking US#1 3:19.45.  Tom Mallon, Central Bucks South, won mile in 4:16.21 and Angel Piccirillo, Homer Center, won for the girls in 4:56.37.  Blake Davenport, Kennett, threw the shot put 56-10.75 for the win.  Shanae Bailey, Swenson, won the girls 60 meter hurdles in 8.92 with Stephen Lewis, Liberty,  winning for the boys in 7.98.  Amy Galvin, Methaction, won the high jump in 5-4 and Marcus Blakely, Coatesville, jumped 6-8 to win the boys event.  Tymerah Burgess, Simon Gratz, won the 60 dash in 7.66.  Alex Kenney, State College, won the boys 60 in 6.80.  Conestoga makes it 3 in a row winning the 4x800 meter relay in 9:25.69.  Abington won the boys 4x800 for a US #3 time of 7:50.86.  St. Basil Academy won the girls DMR in 12:26.41 while West Chester Henderson provided more drama with a thrilling DMR anchor leg to overcome Altoona 10:21.48 - 10:21.51.

 

 

New York State Championships:  Some big marks were set earlier in the week to qualify for states at the Section 3 State QualifierMike Quercia, Marcellus, set a new US#1 mark of 1:19.37 in the 600 meter dash and Fayetteville-Manlius ran a US#3 4x800 of 9:11.63.  The meet kicks off Saturday at Barton Hall in Ithaca, NY.  Aisling Cuffe (Jr., Cornwall) ran an incredible PR of  9:36.95 to move her to US#2 in the 3000 meter run.  Emily Lipari (Sr., Roslyn) flew to a US#1 4:28.21 1500 meter run.  Colleen Schmidt (Jr., Holy Trinity) took second in the 3000 with a PR of 9:56.39 moving her from US#10 to US #4.  US#1 1500 meter race walker Destiny Lalane (Sr., Bay Shore) won the event in 7:06.94.  Lalane's fastest time in the event is 6:57.85.  Brie Roller (Jr., Lakeland/Panas) won the 600 meter run in 1:35.75.  Kelsey Margey (So., Harborfields), won the 1000 meter run by nearly matching her US#1 of 2:51.33 by running 2:51.87.  Madalayne Smith (Sr., Saratoga) finished first in the 55 meter dash with a time of 7.11. Sarah Palmer (Jr., Schuylerville) won the high jump after she jumped 5-8, just a quarter inch short of her US#5 jump of 5-8.25. Carissa Leonardi (Jr., Lakeland Panas) hit the 12 -00 mark in the pole vault to win the event.  Jen Clayton (Sr., Suffern) won the long jump and moved into US#8 by jumping 19-00.75.  In the triple jump Imani Oliver (Sr., Midwood) won the event with a jump of 39-01.  US#1 shot putter Melissa Kurzdorfer (Sr., Lancaster) came close to her all time mark by throwing 48-10.25.  US #3 300 meter dash runner Kyle Plante (So., Colonie) won the event in 38.94.  Lateish Philson (So., Benjamin Cardozo) took the win in the 55 meter hurdles, moving up to US#2.

In the girls relays, Medgar Evers won the 4x200 meter relays in 1:43.80.   Garden City took the win in the 4x400 meter relays in 4:01.96 and Shenendehowa won the 4x800 in 9:17.78 putting them in the US#7 spot.  Girls/Boys Winners Table

 

Alex Hatz (Sr., Fay-Manlius) doubled winning both the 1600 meter run in 4:20.07 and the 3200 meter run in 9:23.29.   Zavon Watkins (So., Liverpool) won the 1000 meter run in 2:31.06.   Charles Berfrantz (Sr., North Babylon) just barely edge out Mark Canady (Sr., Editon Tech) in the 55 meter dash.  Berfrantz finished with the time of 6.391 over Canady's 6.398.  Mel Mosley (Jr., Middletown) ran to a US#6 time of 1:20.87 in the 600 meter dash.   Only .002 separated Richmond Ahadzi (Jr., Sheepshead Bay) and Sancho Barrett (Jr., Amityville) in the 55 meter hurdles.  Ahadzi won the event in 7.471 with Barrett taking second in 7.473.  St. Anthony's senior, Patrick Farmer finished at the top with a US#9 time of 34.32.   Joshua Haghighi (Sr., Wheatley) won the shot put by throwing 59-02.50.  Gabe Pickett (Sr., Vestal) jumped to a 47-06.50 for the win in the triple jump while Anthony DeJean finished the long jump in first place with 23-09.00.  Also in the winners cirle is Cory Duggan (Sr., Monsignor Farrell) with a PR and a tie for US#5 in the Pole Vault with a jump of 16-00.00.   Oneil Sandiford (Jr., Paul Robeson) won the high jump with a jump of 6-08.00.

In the boys relays Newburgh won the 4x400 meter relay in 3:24.99 with Mount Vernon taking the 4x200 in 1:32.02 and Liverpool finishing first in the 4x800 in 7:59.00.

 

 

 

23rd New England Indoor T&F Championships:  Complete Coverage HereLindsey Crevoiserat, Glastonbury CT, won the girls 2 Mile Run with a swift 10:30.55 for a meet record and US#2.  Danbury CT girls set a meet record in the 4x200 meter relay with their winning time of 1:41.47.  Chris Bendtsen, Wolcott CT, won the boys 2 Mile Run with a thrilling closing mile in a US#1 9:15.36.  His splits were 4:44 - 4:31.  Arianna Vailas, Manchester Central CT, won the girls mile run with a meet record time of 4:56.37.  Tewksbury MA girls won the 4x400 meter relay with a time of 3:58.75.  Andover MA won the boys 4x400 meter relay with a time of 3:22.71.  Lincoln-Sudbury MA girls won the 4x800 with a winning time of 9:16.51, good for US#7.  Current US#2 Moira Cronin, Andover MA, won the high jump with a jump of 5-9.  Keron Stoute, Manchester CT, who is currently tied at US#2 (6-10), won the high jump with a leap of 6-9.  Dominic Filiano, Lebanon NH, won the shot put with a mark of 60-2.25.  Dominic is currently US#5 at 63-3.5.  Cecilia Barowski, Bishop Guertin NH, won the 600 meter run with a US#5 time of 1:33.71.  Steve Harshman, Merrimack NH, won the boys 600 with a US#12 time of 1:21.77.  Will Geohegan, Brunswick, won a solid duel in the mile with a US#13 4:14.94 over Mark McCauley, 4:15.43.  Nick Ross, East Greenwich RI, won the boys 1000 meter run with a US#7 2:29.46.  Emily Grotz, Oliver Ames MA, won the girls 1000 in 2:56.40.  Teyanna Green, Danbury CT, won the girls 300 meter run with a time of 40.24.  Jarrell James, Hope RI, won the boys 300 with a time of 35.17.  Hamden CT won the boys 4x800 with a time of 8:01.27.  Andover MA won the boys 4x200 with a time of 1:30.2.  Jonathan Williams, New Bedford MA, won the boys long jump with a leap of 22-11.25.  Deanna Latham, Triton MA, won the girls long jump with an 18-4.75.  She also won the 55 meter hurdles with a 8.18 for US#16.  Greg Boursiqout, Stoughton MA, won the boys 55 meter hurdles with a US#13 7.48.  Chris McConnell, Andover MA, won the boys 55 meter dash with a US#12 tie of 6.39.  Teyanna Green, Danbury CT, won the girls 55 with a time of 7.14.  Rachel Aliotta, Cheshire CT, won the girls shot put with a mark of 41-6.  

 

 

Maple Leaf Indoor Series #3:   Complete Results   Hannah Neczypor (Jr., North Royalton) won the 3200 meter run with a nice PR, and a US#6, of 10:37.75.  

 

 

Wyoming Indoor State T&F Championships:  Boys Preview | Girls Preview  Baillie Gibson throws a US#4 in the shot put with a 47-00.50.

 

 

Ohio State High School Open #5 

Chesna Sykes (Sr., Bishop Hartley) won the 60 meter dash in 7.56 and the 200 meter dash in 24.90.  Sykes holds the US#2 time in the 60m  (7.49) and the US#9 time in the 200m (24.59).   Michelle Thomas (Jr., Glen Este) also doubled winning both the 1600 meter run and 3200 meter run.   The Bishop Hartley girls 4x200 team moved into the US#2 spot with a time of 1:40.34.  Joey Uhle (Jr., Olen Liberty) matched his US#5 Pole Vault of 16-00.  Uhle's twin brother Chris took second with a jump of 15-6.
