Countdown: No. 2, Nation No. 1 For Welsh In Discus

As expected, this was an extremely difficult task. With so many to chose from, we have come up with a list of what we consider the top 20 performances of the outdoor track & field season. We rank them in order, beginning with No. 20 and finishing with No. 1.

Countdown: No. 2,  Nation No. 1 For Welsh In Discus

Sam Welsh took a quick approach to becoming a national champion. After two short years, the Concord Academy senior claimed the coveted title in the discus at last month's New Balance Nationals with a toss of 203-11. But it was his performance at the NEPSTA Division 3 Championships we rank as his best. The Harvard-bound Welsh not only dominated the competition but earned the nation's top toss in the country with an all-time best of 212 feet. Welsh also excelled in the shot put circle, too. At the Concord Academy Relays back in April, he nearly broke 60 feet with a PB of 59-1. No surprise, combined with his excellence in the classroom, Welsh was the state's Gatorade Track & Field Athlete Of The Year.
