Countdown: No. 18, Jacobs-Townsley Ninth For 5K At NBN

As expected, this was an extremely difficult task. With so many to chose from, we have come up with a list of what we consider the top 20 performances of the outdoor track & field season. We rank them in order, beginning with No. 20 and finishing with No. 1.

No. 18, Jacobs-Townsley Ninth At NBN

Amherst-Pelham junior Sophia Jacobs-Townsley appeared to peak at just the right time. She finished off the season by winning her first All-State title with a state best of 10:49.67 for two miles. A few weeks later, she would capture that event in the Emerging Elite 2M at the New Balance Nationals. But the performance we rank as her best, and one we feel is worthy to be on this list, was her ninth-place finish in the 5,000m at the nationals. On the three-day meet's opening day, Jacobs-Townsley cruised to time of 17:18.15 to secure her top-10 placement.  It should be noted that a month earlier at the Battle Road Twilight Series, the A-P standout clocked her all-time best of 17:09.97.
