Oosting Among Sub-9 Club At Arcadia Invitational

One of the first major meets of the outdoor track and field season on a national level is the Arcadia Invitational in California at the beginning of April. This is a meet that never disappoints with an abundance of high-level performances the norm each and every year.

The two-day meet concluded on Saturday and once again it was status quo, particularly the boys' 3,200-meter run. A total of 16 runners cracked nine minutes for the eight-lapper, including one of our own. Arlington's Ryan Oosting, the state and New England indoor two-mile champion and a runner-up at the New Balance Nationals, finished sixth overall with an all-time best of 8 minutes, 53.42 seconds. That's a time that computes to 8:56.51 for two miles, which would improve on his PR of 8:57.59 from the indoor season.

Canadian Marcus Kemp of Stockton St. Mary's  claimed the overall title in 8:50.95. Broomfield (CO) High's Michael Mooney was second in 8:50.96.
