Aramburu, Jacobs-Townsley Quickest At Amherst

Fast times were contagious at the Amherst Invitational on Saturday.

In the boys' Varsity race, five runners dipped under 16 minutes for the five-kilometer course at Hampshire College. It was just as impressive for girls as four broke 18 minutes.

Brookline High junior Lucas Aramburu posted the fastest time of the day with his winning clocking of 15 minutes, 43 seconds. Aramburu held off Concord-Carlisle's Zander Kessler, who was timed in 15:51 for second.

Kessler and his Patriot teammates claimed the team title, defeating Brookline, 49-94. Concord-Carlisle had all five of it scoring runners among the first 17 placements. Timothy McClure was fifth for C-C in 16:03.6.

Amherst Pelham junior Sophia Jacobs-Townsley captured the girls' crown with a time of 18:33.1. Shepherd Hill's Rebekah James took runner-up honors at 18:42.

Averaging 19:58.60 by its scoring runners, Danbury (CT) won the team prize with 67 points. Shepherd Hill collected 82 points for second.
