Updated: Powerhouse Coaching Staff At Davis High XC Leaving Program

In a shock announcement, Kaysville Davis (UT) High cross country head coach Corbin Talley and assistant Brad Anderson are leaving the nationally recognized program after 10 years working in tandem.

The Davis program has won 40 regional championships, 20 state titles and qualified for NXN 11 times over their tenure, including a third-place outing as a girls team in 2013 and a third-place boys finish in 2011.

Talley, who qualified for the US Olympic Marathon Trials in 2004, joined the program in 2003, while Anderson joined the team in 2006

Update (1:06 p.m.): Weber State announced today that Talley, a former student athlete with the Wildcats, has been named the new head coach for the men's track and field and cross country teams.

"We are excited for this announcement for our track and field and cross country programs," Weber State Director of Athletics Jerry Bovee said.

Update (2:28 p.m.): Anderson, a medical device sales rep, is taking a break from coaching. His pairing with Talley over the last decade has been fun, he said.

"I've absolutely loved it," Anderson said. "We are best friends. And we really really worked well as a team. It was constantly every year, 'What do we need to improve?' Strategically, we were looking at what we're doing to fit those runners. 'What fun things can we do?' And really, the last 10 years have been so great working together."

Anderson said an assistant coach with the cross country program, Paul Timothy, will likely take over as the head coach in the fall. He said Davis will look into hiring for the track program. Talley was the head coach of the team, while Anderson and Talley worked with the distance runners.
