Salute To Seniors: Ryan Sullivan, Wakefield High

Ryan Sullivan, Wakefield Memorial High

Q. What would you consider the highlight of your high school career?
A. I would say the highlight of my high school career was my team and I getting 21st at Indoor Nationals in the Championship 4x800, or the 3 school record relays I am part of (4x800 indoor and outdoor & 4x400 indoor)

Q. What was your most memorable performance?
A. Most memorable performance was indoor this year running the 600 for my first time and having to beat one of the best 600 runners in the state for our team to win the freedom division, or outdoor nationals when basically everyone I knew was watching, and saw me handoff the baton in first.

Q. What was your most difficult obstacle to overcome?
A. Most difficult obstacle was XC passing out in my first race of the season and the doctors telling me I couldn't run till they found out what the problem was... but I still ran.

Q. What advice would you give to younger athletes?
A. I would say fall in love with the sport early, and work to be good. It took me some time to figure this out, but I finally did.

Q. What will you miss most?
A. I will miss my coach and my friends that I made through the years, especially my 4x800 team, they have become my brothers and I wish I never had to stop running with them.

Q. What are your future plans?
A. I am going to be running XC at Saint Anselm's college and study Psychology, maybe become a sports and exercise psychologist and use my running experiences to help my studies.

Q. What influence has your coach (or coaches) had with respect to your performance and overall life goals?
A. My coaches changed my life, Wakefield is the luckiest town in the country, because if you don't know coach Pappas and coach Reinoso then I feel sorry for you. He made me love running and made me become a great leader and person on and off the course.

Q. Who would you like to say Thank You?
A. I'd like to thank my mom, dad, and brother for making me feel like I'm the fastest person in the world, even if I were to not win my race. And to my coaches who are all amazing. Lastly, to my team who are the greatest group of guys and girls I ever met, and they are going to be killing it for the next couple years!
