Bromfield, Oakmont Take Crowns At Western/Central Division 2 Meet

Sarah and Kaitlyn Roffman went 1-2 in the mile at Saturday's meet.

The Bromfield School proved too much in the girls' competition at Saturday's MIAA Western/Central Division 2 Championships. The Trojans easily captured the team prize, defeating second-place South Hadley, 98.5-55.5. Lenox Memorial was third with 45.

It was a closer affair in the boys' meet as Oakmont held off runner-up Ayer Shirley, 57-45. Sutton was third with 43.

Littleton's Sarah and Kaitlyn Roffman went 1-2 in the mile run with Sarah breaking the tape in 5 minutes, 4.63 seconds and Kaitlyn crossing the line at 5:08.86. Parker Charter's Nico Agosta was the boys' winner with a time of 4:25.61. Narragansett's Michael Capps secured second in 4:26.97.

Shannon Meisberg of Lenox Memorial clocked the state's second fastest time in the 400m hurdles, breaking the tape in 1:03.56.

West Bolyston's Flynn Mitchell heaved the javelin a winning distance of 175 feet, 4 inches, No. 3 in the state rankings.
