Multiple Winners, Eagles Dominate At Frosh States

Multiple winners were in abundance at Wednesday's Freshmen State Meet, held at Toll Gate High.

Highlighted by a double-winning performance from Caroline Livingston, Barrington earned the team hardware, defeating second-place Smithfield, 102-51.5. Livingston captured the 1,500-meter run with a time of 5 minutes, 7.7 seconds. She also broke the tape in the 800m with a 2:25 clocking.

West Warwick's Virsavia Goretoy, the indoor long jump state champion, went home with four gold medals. Goretoy won both hurdle events, taking the 100m HH in 16.20 and the 300m IH in 48.70. She also claimed the long and triple jump titles with distances of 16 feet, 11.25 inches and 34-6.25, respectively.

Westerly's Sydney Federico was first in the 400m (1:01.20) and the 200m (26.90). Cheyenne Figueroa of Classical took the hammer (137-8) and the shot put (35-2.5).

East Greenwich's Faye Preston beat the field in the 100m dash, where she was timed in 12.60. She also ran legs on the victorious 4x100m (52.10) and 4x400m (4:28.50) relay squads.
