Wrap-Up Of Coaches, Andover & Class E Meets

Norton's Brooke-Lynn Williams captured the 100m dash at the girls' Coaches Invitational.

Girls' Coaches Invitational

We have already had a number of invitational meets these past few weeks, but one particular athlete has been noticeably missing from all of them, Norton's multiple all-stater Brooke-Lynn Williams. Since winning her second straight state and New England indoor title in the short sprint a few months ago, Williams has not competed at any of the invitational meets in MA or any high-level out-of-state competitions until this weekend. Any question on whether or not she's ready to finish off her final high school season of track & field with a bang were answered on Saturday. Williams won the 100m dash by nearly a half a second with her winning time of 12.10. That time ranks No. 2 in the state behind Newton South's Calene Lazare, who did 12.08 at the Weston Twilight Invitational a week earlier.  In the 400m, Beverly's India Ingemi clocked the third fastest time in MA with a winning 57.99. The 800m featured four runners under 2:20, including individual winner Julia Fenerty of Franklin, who was timed in 2:18.84. Plymouth North's Katie Fisher was second in 2:18.85. Lynnfield's Katie Mitchell won the mile by nearly two seconds with a strong time of 5:08.17. Cameron Garabien of Seekonk, the state's top shot-putter, won a tight battle with Holliston's Kelly Alves with heave of 38-5.5. Alves was second at 38-0.5.
