State Meet Records That Could Fall This Season

BOYS' 200m

Meet Record: 21.01 - Jeffrey Smith, Silver Lake Regional, 2016

Ironically, the person that has an outside chance at breaking this record shares the same last name as the record-setter, Nikolas Smith of Northampton. In 2016, Smith dipped under 22 seconds for the half-lapper on a number of occasions, including his personal-best, winning time of 21.62 at the Western/Central Division I Championships. He also won the individual title at the All State Meet where he was timed in 21.64. Smith will have to knock off more than six tenths of a second to break the state meet record, a difficult task for such a short distance. But we're not counting him out. He certainly has the potential to improve on his PB substantially this year, considering what he did this past indoor season where he captured the 300m and finished second by mere inches to Milton's Smith Charles in the 55m dash.
