Newton North Boys, Milton Girls Claim Team Titles At MIAA All State Meet!


In a meet that came to the final event of the day on both sides, the Newton North boys and Milton girls emerged victorious at the MIAA All State Meet on Sunday.

Newton North best second-place Lexington, 34-31. Milton defeated Natick, 38-35.

Newton North had four runner-up finishes in the meet - Theo Burba in the 600m, Andrew Mah in the two mile, Nathaniel Klein in the shot put and its 4x400m relay.

Milton scored 18 of its points in the 1,000-meter run with a 1-2 finish from Bridget Mitchell and Collette O'Leary. Mitchell won the event in the unseeded heat where she was timed in a personal best of 2:54.31. O'Leary outlasted the field in the seeded section where she was timed in 2:55.81.

Smith Charles of Milton was a double winner, taking the 55m dash and the long jump. He was also fourth in the  high jump. Natick's Grace Connolly also won two events, breaking the tape in the mile and two mile.

In the boys' 600m, Burncoat's Rodney Agyare-May and Burba both dipped under 1:19 with Agyare-May taking the title in 1:18.76 to Burba's 1:18.87.
