It's Catholic Memorial & Concord-Carlisle In Div. 3!


It simply doesn't get any better than this.

With a crucial fourth-place finish in the 4x400-meter relay, the final event of the night, Concord-Carlisle clinched the girls' team title at the MIAA Division 3 Championships on Wednesday. The Patriots scored 64.5 points, just a half a point ahead of runner-up Hopkinton. In the boys' competition, pre-meet favorite Catholic Memorial easily defeated second-place Concord-Carlisle, 67-46.

The meet, held at the Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center, featured several outstanding performances on both the boys' and girls' side.

Bishop Feehan's Anne Leahy was a double-winner, capturing the 55-meter dash with a time of 7.36 seconds and the 300m at 41.0.

Three of the girls' races on the track were determined  in the final few meters. Hopkinton's Caitlyn Halloran edged Sharon's Ariadne Tolay in the 600m with a time of 1:36.79 to Tolay's 1:36.89.  In the 1,000m, Hopkinton's Isabelle Giordano was a narrow victor over Concord-Carlisle's Sarah Reicheld, breaking the tape in 2:58.36. Reichheld was timed in 2:58.87. Plymouth North went 1-2 in the mile with sophomore Elizabeth Marshall taking the prize in 5:17.78 and teammate Kate Fisher snagging second in 5:18.99.

Competing in the unseeded heat, Concord-Carlise nearly broke the meet mark in the 4x200m. finishing with a first-place time of 1:45.51, just .42 from the record. In the high jump, Zoe Dainton of Hingham broke a 30-year-old meet record by matching her best with a height of 5-8.

In the boys' meet, Catholic Memorial set a MR in the 4x400m, combining for a time of 3:27.50. Fitchburg came a few strides from doing the same in the 4x200m. winning the event with a time of 1:32.19, just .48 from the meet record.

As expected, the 600m proved to be a thriller as John Lara of Catholic Memorial held off Aiden Foucault-Etheridge of Amherst Pelham with his winning time of 1:22.43. Foucault-Etheridge finished at 1:22.46.

Dartmouth's Colin McCabe earned gold in the shot put with a heave of 56-11.25.
