We had a feeling it would come soon, and on Saturday in Boston, it finally came.

South Williamsport's Katie Jones took down the Pennsylvania state record in the pole vault at the New Balance Grand Prix at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston, MA. Jones cleared 13-6.5 (4.13m), shattering the previous state record of 13-2.25, held by Abby Schaffer of Easton since 2008. That's also better than Lindsay Reagan's outdoor state record of 13-6. Jones currently has the US#1 height.

She competed in a field that included a mix of pros and high schoolers, like American Jenn Suhr, who holds the world record in the indoor pole vault. Suhr no-heighted.

Jones missed her first attempt at 13-6.5 after clearing 11-1, 12-0.75, 13-0.75. On her second attempt, Jones was clean over the bar and the state record was hers. Jones then missed her attempts at 14-0.5.
