MIAA Boys Emass: Rocha Fastest Time , Lowell Repeats Again !

Boys Division 1 

Marcelo Rocha of Peabody High School ran the fastest Boys time of the day clocking in at 15:41 to win the boys Division 1 title. Rocha ran a solo effort as a cast of Lowell and Cambridge runners battled it out behind him for the team championship.  Sam Stubbs of Cambridge finished second place in 15:55, but the team of Lowell led by Anthony Rodriguez (3rd-15:58), Chris Gendron (4th- 16:04), Chris Polanco (6th-16:06) , and Tommy Abraham (7th-16:12) were much to deep and strong for Cambridge. Lowell remains undefeated at Wrentham and has won the last 6 of 7 Eastern Massachusetts Championship.

Boys Division 2

Thomas D'Aneiri of Wellesley hammered the field early in the D2 boys race finishing with the second fastest time of the day in 15:42. His teammates Benjamin Matejka,(5th-16:13) and Jamieson Mazzola (7th-16:35) were plenty enough to win the team title for Wellesley (50 points). The defending champions of Mansfield finished second place with 73 points.

Boys Division 3

The Division 3 Favorite Eli Decker of Concord Carlisle won the Division 3 boys race in 16:10. It was the battle of the Jacob's for second place as Jacob Zuch (2nd-16:18) of Winchester edged out Jacob Gaudette of Dracut (3rd-16:19). The team from Hingham took down pre race favorite Concord Carlisle to win the team title with 114 points.

Boys Division 4

The team from Marblehead showed why they are overwhelming favorites to win the D2 team title next week in Westfield, as they placed 5 in the top 12 to win the team title with 34 points. University of Virginia bound senior AJ Ernst won the D4 Championship race in 16:00.  The Melrose duo Kevin Wheelock (3rd- 16:15) and Adam Cook (16:29) was enough to help their team take home the runner-up trophy.

Boys Division 5

The D5 meet was once again a battle between Cape Ann rivals Hamilton Wenham and Newburyport. A few weeks back the Clippers beat H-W in the CAL dual meet, but once again Hamilton Wenham took home the D5 title. In 2014 both teams tied in the EMass Championships, and Hamilton Wenham won the tie breaker. This year Hamilton Wenham left no doubt as they placed four in the top 10 to defend their title. Umass Lowell bound Joe Molvar rolled to the individual title in 16:15.

Boys Division 6

Pre Race favorite Manchester Essex took home the team title with 41 points. They were led by Patrick Guinee (2nd-16:43),  Charlie Davis (3rd- 17:04), Nathan Evans (8th-17;12). Spencer Feururbach (11th-17:14) and Matt Kenney (20th- 17:59). The individual title went to Coyle Cassidy junior Joe Gill with a winning time of 16:37.
