National Signing Day: Guiliani to Iowa State, Marston to Assumption

The Maine state shot put record holder & number #1 ranked shot putter in the nation for the class of 2016, Dan Guiliani signed his national letter of intent to compete for the Iowa State Cyclones next year.

Guiliani who burst onto the national scene last spring with his 66-5 effort during a SMAA regular meet at Windham, consistently threw over 60ft last spring, winning the Class A State title, as well as the New England title. Dan was undefeated throughout the outdoor season, and in dominating fashion broke SMAA, Class A, & New England records along the way.

Guiliani made two official visits, one to LSU and the other to Iowa State before deciding to be a Cyclone. "It was the best fit for me" Guiliani said early this fall about choosing the Cyclones after he verbally committed in late September.

He will join a Cyclones program that currently has 4 other Maine natives, distance runners Bethanie Brown, Dan Curts & Josef Holt-Andrews, and sprinter/jumper Kate Hall.

Bonny Eagle distance standout Kialeigh Marston signed her National Letter of Intent on Thursday to compete for Division two Assumption College.

Marston has won 5 individual track state titles in her time at Bonny Eagle. She was the 2013 Class A XC state individual winner, and helped guide her team to the state team title this fall, as well in 2013.

On the track Marston has a personal best of 4:59.04 in the 1600m.
