Salute to Our Seniors: Connor Donovan, Methuen High School

What do you enjoy doing outside of your running?

I do a bunch of other sports whether for the high school or just for the town. I played varsity football this year for Methuen High School.

What are you going to miss most about your high school running career?

Definitely the competing. Meeting new kids from all over the state, New England or the country and competing with them.

What was your most memorable race?

Running a 3:23 in the 4x400m relay at all states with my team. We spent all winter trying to break 3:30 and for whatever reason we couldn't and we finally put it altogether and broke 3:30 earlier on in the season but we never thought of a 3:23 so it was awesome.

Out of all your high school running accomplishments, what stands out the most?

Running a 56.3 personal best and placing 3rd in Division 1 states in the 400 hurdles.

What was the most difficult obstacle you had to overcome?

The most difficult obstacle to overcome was definitely the hurdles! Those are really tough!

Do you have any advice for younger runners?

To younger runners, keep fighting, keep moving. It's not easy so if you aren't doing well at first, just keep fighting because everyone started where you were, you just have to keep running. Never, ever give up.

If you were to change anything about your high school running career.....what would you change?

The one thing I could change would start huddling freshman year instead of sophomore year that way I can get that extra year of practice.

What are your college plans?

To run and hurdle for UMass Lowell

Who would you like to say thank you to?

My biggest thanks goes to my coach Roger Fuller, he never gave up on me even when there was no hope of ever finding me an event! He kept believing in me and kept motivating me to be the best I could. I could not have done anything remotely close to what I've done without his help.
