Girls Highlights
The Division 1 girls race had the top four ranked teams in the state battling for the team title. Bishop Feehan had a convincing win over Lincoln-Sudbury, Weymouth , and Needham.. The Shamrock's showed why they will be ranked #1 as they averaged 19:16 and scored 93 points. Ariel Keklak of Lincoln Sudbury is emerging as a threat for any individual title from now till the end of the season. Keklak was fresh off a fine performance in Manhattan, took down a very deep and talented field running a personal best of 18:06 on the fast twilight course. Margie Cullen of Needham (18:15), Emily Bryson of North Quincy (18:19), Emily Costantino (18:26), and Rebecca Grusby (18:36) rounded out the top 5.
The Division 2 girls race was won by local favorite Corale Geraniotis of Nauset (18:42), She was an early runaway but held on for the victory over Tyngsborough's Jaylan Fraser-mines (2nd-18:48). Phoebe Von Conta (3rd-18:48) of Parker Charter , Makenzie Cyr of Douglas (4th-18:51), and Erin Grela finished fifth in 18:58.73. Tyngsborough ran away with the team title over Ursuline (2nd), and Milton High School (3rd).
In the Freshman Girls race, Madaket Nobili of Nauset gave the Warriorsthe first of two victories of the day. The young freshman ran 12:31 on the 2.1 mile course. Grace McGuire of Marblhead (2nd-12:44), Nicole Sedler of Acton-Boxborough (3rd-12:48), Sophie Chong from Lexington (4th-12:48), and Lauren Grela of Ursuline was 5th in 12:59.
Jillian Howard of Weston High School cracked the 19 Minute barrier for the first time winning the Sophomore Division. Her winning time of 18:57 was well ahead of Julie Romano of Mansfield (2nd-19:33). Elizabeth Concannon of Lincoln Sudbury (3rd-19:53), Caroline Meizen of Douglas (4th-19:54), and Erin Giugno of Marlborough (5th-19:57). Although the MSTCA did not score the sophomore race, Bishop Feehan unofficially had the fastest team of the day with 59 points.
