Umass Minuteman Invitational Recap

A few of the top New England Collegiate teams made the trip out to Western Mass to compete in the Umass Minuteman Invitational. In the Mens race,  Dan Moroney of the University of Vermont,  broke the 6K course record in a time of 18:53.4. Moroney, from Suffield High School in Ct, established a new record on the hilly Umass course.  Tyler Hanson  (Boston College 2nd- 19:09), Ben Thomas (Umass 3rd-19:11), George Galasso (Boston College 4th-19:11), and Alexander Moser (Maine 5th- 19:16) rounded out the top five places. The first local runner was Patrick Coppinger of UVM. The former Lowell High School standout finished 6th place overall, a huge improvement over his 24th place finish a year ago. The Catamount's of UVM went on to take the team title, placing five runners in the top twelve.

In the Womens race, Nationally ranked Boston College  placed five in the top ten spots to win over Uconn. Liv Westphal of Boston College won easily over Lauren Sara of UConn.
