What's On Tap this Weekend ?

The Invitational season kicks off with a couple of coastal meets. Up in Cape Ann Country, the 10th Annual Clipper Relays will be held in Newburyport. The perfect opening meet for many teams as they will carry a baton in teams of three around the rolling hills of beautful Maudsley State Park. This early season invitational will showcase many of the North Shore teams as they compete for the Classic handcrafted Awards. If you took a speed boat from Cape Ann to Cape Cod you could catch the Martha's Vineyard Invitational. Another perfect setting for this early season summer atmosphere event. It should be a great weekend of action and Milespitmass will cover as much as possible.

15th Annual Clipper Relays - Maudsley State Park, Newburyport, Ma

Meet Information

  • Enclosed in the packet are numbers for the #3 runner on each of your three person teams.  This should be worn on the front of the singlet of the third runner on each relay team you enter.  Each #3 runner must be wearing their team’s number.  Runners #1 and runner #2 do not wear a number.  A form is provided to designate the numbers of each of your teams. Coaches should record who is running on each of your teams on this sheet.  This is for your information and does not have to be turned in.
  • A finishing time for each team will be provided.  Coaches will responsible for individual runner’s splits.  Runners are permitted to wear watches.

  •    Please inform parents that there will be a $2 parking fee.  Six years ago a number of parents were quite angry with the Maudslay State Staff about the fee. (Some resorted to rudeness)  This was a major issue with the park and has jeopardized the existence of the race.  The money does not go to the race but is imposed by the State.  Any help in informing the parents would be greatly appreciated.
  • Please ask runners to show courtesy to park attendants when crossing street and when using park facilities.  This was another problem that threatened our ability to use the park for the race.
  •   Dry Fit T-shirts will be available for $25.  If you wish to inform your runners it would be appreciated.  There will also be a baked good sale and sport drink, water, and coffee will be available.
