Aly Comeau ,   Gardner High School

"Aly is my Little Secretariat, she has a big heart and will run just fast enough to beat you if you challenged her." ------ Hurdle Coach Tracy Lewis

What do you enjoy doing outside of your running?

Outside of running I work coaching youth gymnastics and spend time with my friends. I'm a creative person, I enjoy learning new things, hiking, art, music and having fun.

What are you going to miss most about your high school running career?

I’m going to miss the big meets and seeing all the people that I have gotten to know, the athletes, coaches, officials and fans.  They are all awesome!

What was your most memorable race?

New Balance Indoor Nationals!  It was always my goal to make it there and I finally did.

Out of all your high school running accomplishments, what stands out the most?

Coming in 2nd at the indoor New England meet! My last 55m hurdle race and I had a huge PR.

What was the most difficult obstacle you had to overcome?

Getting it into my mind that I can actually be the best and really believing it.

Do you have any advice for younger runners?

Your success depends on how hard you want it and how hard you’re willing to work for it.  My favorite quote is:  “Hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard” Kevin Durant.

If you were to change anything about your high school running career.....what would you change?

I wouldn’t change a thing.

What are your college plans?

I will study Nutritional Science at the University of Massachusetts Lowell, where I will also be running track!  It’s been a dream come true to be recruited to a D1 program and I’m going to work hard to be a contributing member of the women’s team.

Who would you like to say thank you to?

I would like to say thank you to my Mom, Dad, and Grampa.  They never missed any meets! I’d also like to thank my hurdle coach, Tracy Lewis, without him none of this would be possible.  He helped me reach my dream of running Division I.  My family and friends have been very supportive,  Thank you to everyone for all your support.
